The High Command of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), has announced that the militant group will shock Nigerians with more dastardly acts this year. The threat was contained in a statement signed by the group's spokesperson, Brigadier-General Mudoch Agbinigbo. The NDA said its range of activities designed to reclaim the Niger Delta in 2017 will be carried out under Operations Walls Of Jericho and Hurricane Joshua.

"As we get prepared for the challenges ahead 2017, We make bold to tell the people of our Niger Delta, sane minds in Nigeria and the comity of nations that the remaining 11 months and couple of weeks in 2017 will be filled with surprises and a reconfiguration of the struggle for the liberation of our motherland.

"Since, the declaration of cessation of hostilities in the region by all fighters and affiliates, it has been evidently clear that the Nigerian state is not ready for any form of dialogue and negotiation with our people to addressing the issues sustaining the unending sufferings and deprivation of the people of the Niger Delta.                  

"The world is aware that, after listening to calls from our Royal Fathers, Community Leaders, Stakeholders and members of the comity of nations especially the governments of the United States of America, Great Britain and the European Union, we halted all actions," the NDA said.

It accused the Federal Government of rejecting genuine dialogue and negotiations.                                                

"The world knows that PANDEF, as team of critical stakeholders, was mandated to engender a genuine dialogue and negotiations process that will be made up of apolitical Niger Deltans to engage with the  government and people of Nigeria, representatives of the International Oil Corporations and neutral observers.    

"But this government decided to go around to politicizing the process to forestall any genuine dialogue and negotiations," alleged the NDA.

On account of this, the group said its next line of action to red will soon be unveiled to the chagrin of the Federal Government. Employing sarcasm, the NDA stated: "It is our belief that  the 2017 national budget  is not based on the crude oil production output from the Niger Delta, but  on the newly found oil deposits in the North and the new pipelines constructed from the Niger Republic."                

The NDA also warned International Oil Companies and their partners that have been awarded the 2017/2018 crude oil term contracts by the Federal Government that those contracts represent a conspiracy against the Niger Delta.

It listed the contract beneficiaries as Nigerian state as including Sonara Refinery, Hindustan Refinery, Cepsa Refinery,  Bharat Petroleum, Varo Energy, Trafigura, ENOC Trading,  BP Trading, Total Trading, UCL Petrol Energy,  Mocho and Tevier Petroleum. Also on the list are Heritage Oil, Levene Energy, Glencore, Litasco Supply and Trading, Indian Oil Company,  China's Sinopec and South Africa's Saccoil.     Nigerian companies on the list are Oando, Sahara Energy, MRS Oil and Gas, A.A Rano, Bono, Masters Energy, Etarna Oil and Gas, Cassiva Energy,  Hyde Energy, Britania U, Northwest Petroleum and  Optima Energy. Others are AMG Petroenergy, Arkleen Oil & Gas Ltd, Shoreline Limited, Emo Oil, Setana Energy,Prudent Energy, Duke Oil Limited and Carlson Hyson

The NDA said all its fighters and commands are ready to hit the Nigerian state hard because of its recalcitrance.

"That is the way to discuss with the deaf, when he cannot understand your soft massage. We are determined to hit him very hard and deadly that even his eyes will shed blood, his ear will be more deafened and his heart shall quake when he sees, hear and feel the outcome of our next activities.

"On this note, we are declaring "Operations Walls of Jericho and Hurricane Joshua” simultaneously to reclaim our motherland and dislodge all cleavages the Nigerian ruling oligarchy has foisted on the region that is sustaining the country," said NDA.

NIGERIAN WITCHES TO HOLD CONVENTION FEBUARY 17TH

Chief David Edebiri, the Esogban of Benin Kingdom in Edo State, is Chairman of Benin Forum, the umbrella body of all Binis in the country and Diaspora. He oversees operations of witches and wizards among other traditional functions. A septugenarian, he spoke to Vanguard’s Niger-Delta Life on his role as the “departmental head” of witches and wizards in the monarchy. He however made it clear that he is not a witch.

Power of witches
Chief Edebiri disclosed that unknown to many, witches run government and once they make decision, it is binding all over without the people knowing how. The Bini chief, who recalled that witches were very vicious before now in the kingdom, said a traditional parliamentary action was endorsed by “our great, great grandfathers” to put together a group, which he (Edebiri) is presently the leader, to tame their excesses.

Deactivation of witches
He said: “What I am doing as the Esogban is a social service to the community. It was enacted by our great, great grandfathers. When you hear of witch-hunt in England, France, if anybody is suspected to be a witch, the person will be burnt alive and destroyed, similar things were happening here, but the elders now said no, instead of killing these people or sending them to the evil forest, why not look for a way to reform them and bring them back to the society.”

Higher power
“I think that was why this structure was put up. It was a legislative action for social development of the people. When these people come here, because of predominant superior power, they confess that they are witches or wizards and confess all the destructions that they have been involved in,” Edebiri asserted. His words, “Then we look for a way to discipline them. You cannot remove them from being a witch or wizard, but after coming here they can be disabled from committing havoc or using the power for any dangerous thing.So when these people were brought like that and they were disabled, they will be taken back to the society and no one will call them wizards again. First, their coven will not admit them anymore, secondly that power has been completely taken away from them.”

How I acquired my power
Asked where he acquired the authority he uses to tame suspected witches and wizards, Chief Edebiri, “Ah, it is the power of God Almighty and that of the Oba of Benin (laughter). We have averted much havoc that these people would have caused in Benin Kingdom.”

‘Departmental Head’
“They died because they denied, if they did not deny we know what to do and they will remain alive. Some will come here and agree that they belong but that they will change; we know how to take them through the process. It is a social work that we are doing. But I am just a departmental head. You should know that the head of the Federal Ministry of Health is not necessarily a doctor. I do not need to be a member, if I was a member, I will not be able to do what I am doing now. Secondly, their grade is too junior, if I were to be a member I cannot be in their grade. This thing has grade.

Most dangerous witches
“The dangerous ones are the lowest, they never think of anything good. All they do is evil. But there is the upper class; those are the people running the government. They run the government all of us are. And once they make decision in that area, it is binding all over. They think of how the society will grow,” he said.

Witches fear Jesus Christ
Chief Edebiri added: “I tell you that most of them do not succeed anywhere Jesus is mentioned. And I asked them, do you mean that you people fear the awesome power of Jesus Christ, they said yes. And these people (witches) are either church singers or something in the church, I asked them further, if you say that you fear the power of Jesus, how do you feel when the pastor is condemning you people in the name of Jesus, they said they will be condemning the pastor too. But I can tell that so many of them have been converted to Christianity after passing through this place. The elders, who made this possible were very wise people, otherwise, what we should have been seeing today is burning and killing people, who are witches and that would have brought the society to another catastrophe.”

CRY OF HELP!

'Please my good people of our nation, i am sincerely calling out for justice against violence. I am hospitalized right now as i type this with the lil stamina in me; i am in serious pain and agony; in between life and death. This is my story:

This morning, at about 11.50am, i boarded a sienna vehicle leaving PortHarcourt for Onitsha. As we approached the first checkpoint immediately after the airport, we pulled over as the soldiers ordered us to, for the usual scrutinization.

                                                                         SULAIMAN OLAMILEKAN

One of them, the youngest of them, by name, SULAIMAN OLAMILEKAN, began to molest me. He accused me of discussing him, where i was only having a friendly debate with the lady beside me about whether his car is tinted or not bcos of the way the we where being delayed bcos the driver didn't bring the back glass down when​ he stopped us immediately he was like 'hey you wetin you just talk now' I explained to him that he was never in the picture of the gist but he ignored me and demanded i disembark from the vehicle, kneel down and apologies to him.

I called his bluff and explained to him that i did nothing wrong to apologize. To my greatest dismay, this dude went in search of any object at his disposal (a huge stick), and started hitting it all over my body. He shove me out of the vehicle and when he pieces the stick on me he went in search of another thing and he came back with a big rod immediately I saw him coming with that one and I noticed everyone was already scared to come closer also his colleagues were just there busy with the stopping of other vehicles I ran out of the vehicle and jumped down wanted to run over to the other lane to where their ogas used to stay but on a second thought I sensed he might throw the big rod on me I then stood still not believing he could actually used that on me b4 I knew it he started hitting my two leg with it

I was helpless as my fellow passengers were scared to intervene, the others (soldiers) disengaged him from hitting me further but they did not reprimand/reprove him. Instead, they confiscated my phone and prevented me from taking pictures of any of them my phone's screen is in pieces now. When i told them that i would nolonger proceed with the journey, they restrained me from going back to Porthacourt by compelling the driver to embark on our journey to (Onitsha) with me.

The driver drove off to some distance away from there, and i alighted from the vehicle and boarded another one heading back to Porthacourt. The passengers in the bus were astonished at the injuries i sustained from the brutality. They sympathized with me and advised me to take the matter up. Even the new driver confirmed Ola to be a ruthless soldier as he has had an encounter like that with him before.

As soon as we arrived Porthacourt, i went straight to the Army Barracks to file a report about him. I narrated the whole story to them. The soldiers and the superiors there, were astonished at the cruel act and were sympathizing with me and pleaded that i shouldn't take the case any further; that the Ola dude would be remanded for one month in the barracks there (which i feel is not enough justice)they said he just joined then in the yr 2015

I was quickly attended to and was taken to their clinic for treatment. They summoned for Ola, the dude was very shocked that the case had gotten here already. To God be the glory, he confessed correctly that i didn't do anything to have warranted his cruel action that he was in a very bad mood He said what happened there was inexplicable. This time, he genuflected and implored for compassion. He took my number when I was giving it to the nurse for my admission at the hospital an whatsapped me to forgive him and not take things seriously. (This was how i tracked his identity on True caller.)

Right now i am bedridden. The doctor said i am running temperature due to my high blood pressure. I am in serious pain and rendered partially immoveable. How do i explain this uncomely incidence to my family in Onitsha whom i was supposed to meet with? Please Help! Help me reach out to anybody in authority, who can fight this violence. Violence is indeed a cankerworm that has eaten us deep into every fabric of the Nigerian Army Force. Soldiers fight and protect their own, not to destroy the innocent civilians.

A National Youth Service Corp member (NYSC), whose name was not disclosed, was spotted sleeping inside a nylon bag in order to keep himself away from mosquito bites. However, the area of which he was observing his one year youth service was not revealed but he was seen wearing a blue jeans, white round-neck top and had his waist-purse strapped round him as he slept inside the nylon.

The nylon was placed on top of a bed tho not on the floor.

NO CHANCE IN ASO ROCK 2019 ......NORTHERN YOUTHS SAYS

Following former president Olusegun Obasanjo's statement on supporting Igbos for presidency in 2019, the Northern Progressives Youth Initiative has reacted angrily to his pronouncement. Obasanjo on Tuesday, January 24, while hosting the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ogun state chapter, at his Abeokuta Hilltop residence said: “Irrespective of the thinking of the people ahead of 2019, I personally think that South-East should have a go at the Presidency too." However the group in a statement signed by Mallam Gazali Abdullahi its Secretary-General, said that the comment was unbecoming of Obasanjo and condemnable.

The statement reads: “while President Muhammadu Buhari is on vacation and with so much fuss over the President’s decision to undergo medical examinations during his vacation, it is confounding to find an elder in the status of a former president needlessly criss-crossing the length and breadth of the country and discussing a successor to a sitting president.

“In his days as a sitting president, everyone knows that such a crass remark would have passed as a felony by Obasanjo’s own standards. And, for someone who had publicly claimed to have retired from politics, one wonders on what auspices Obasanjo thinks he can unilaterally determine which region produces the president for a country of almost 180 million people, or if integrity has any interpretation in Obasanjo’s dictionary.”

The statement further said that judging by his conduct after his exit from the presidency, Obasanjo had clearly shown that he is not to be a friend of the North.

“This time again, Obasanjo has shown his hands that he is neither a friend of President Buhari nor is he a friend of the North. But as far as 2019 is concerned, we want to make it equivocally clear that only God, through the ballot of majority of Nigerians, and not one man can decide who the president of Nigeria will be in 2019,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the Movement for the Actualisation of s Sovereign State Of Biafra (MASSOB) has also lashed out at the former president after he rooted for an Igbo presidency for 2019.

MASSOB said they will not take the former president serious as he might just want to use the Igbos for his own gain.

The group said: “Nobody should rejoice over the statement by Obasanjo because he will never do or say anything good about Igbo. For him to solicit for Igbo president is not in the interest of Ndigbo."
